How do I apply for a Firearms Dealer Licence?
A firearms dealer licence issued under the Firearms Act 1996 authorises the dealer to possess, manufacture, convert, acquire, supply, repair, maintain or test firearms or firearm parts. There are three types of firearms dealer licence:
- a firearms dealer
- a theatrical armourer
- a club armourer
The links to the right provide information on each of these licences, including what each licence authorises and the legislative requirements for each licence.
NSW Firearms Registry Dealers Portal
The NSW Firearms Registry has successfully implemented the Gun Safe dealer portal. The system provides NSW Firearms Dealers with a secure and real-time process for the movement of firearms, providing enhanced safety outcomes for Firearms Dealers, the Public and members of the NSW Police Force.
The benefits of Gun Safe dealer portal include the recording, monitoring, auditing, and reporting functionality for Firearms Dealers, whilst enhancing related compliance capabilities and the NSW Police Force.
