The NSW Police Force is excited to welcome visitors to Sydney – in particular all those coming together to enjoy Sydney WorldPride 2023 – and celebrate our global LGBTIQ+ communities.

The NSW Police Force team has put in months of work in conjunction with event organisers and our LGBTIQ+ communities planning and developing our operation to ensure all can enjoy events safely.

LGBTIQ+ Liaison Officers and GLLOs

LGBTIQ+ Liaison Officers are contact officers for the broader sexuality, gender diverse and intersex communities. Their training includes specific information on the history of the relationship between police and LGBTIQ+ communities, challenges and sensitivities experienced by some community members to engage with police, and effective responses to people who become victims of crime.

LGBTIQ+ Liaison Officers will be identifiable during Sydney WorldPride 2023 by their bright yellow sleeve and rainbow GLLO badge.

Hate Crime

Hate Crime can happen to anyone. Hate is prejudice or bias towards people because of their identity or perceived difference. When a crime is motivated by hate, it becomes a hate crime.

When a crime is occurring the best thing to do is to call Triple Zero (000) and get help immediately. If it's not urgent, you can report in person to any Police Station.

Gather. Dream. Amplify.

During Sydney WorldPride 2023, many different clans and communities have come together as one to celebrate with our global LGBTQIA+ community.

Tee is a proud Wiradjuri woman, working in the Orana Mid-Western Police District.

She is NSW Police Force's first Aboriginal Community Liason Officer (ACLO) and GLLO/LGBTIQ+ Liaison Officer, helping to bridge the gap for LGBTIQ+ First Nations people.

Along with Sergeant Nathan Towney, they launched the 'Strong, Proud and Deadly' program, which aims to bring awareness to the support systems available to Aboriginal LGBTIQ+ youth and introduce them to community leaders.
