What does the Firearms Permit authorise?
This permit authorises a person who has indicated on a P650 declaration that they have previously been refused or prohibited from holding a firearms licence or had a firearms licence or permit suspended, cancelled or revoked, to undertake a Firearms Safety Training.
What timeframe does the Firearms Permit remain valid?
The permit will be valid for a period of twenty-eight (28) days from the date of issue. The permit holder must undertake the required course specified in Part 2 of the Legitimate Reason form within this timeframe.
Is there a fee for applying for the Firearms Permit?
A fee is not required for this permit. You are not required to complete Section I – FEE on the Firearms Permit application form.
How do I submit my completed Firearm Permit and Legitimate Reason form?
The application form, legitimate reason form and any required supporting documentation can be submitted via email to clubs@police.nsw.gov.au or via post to Locked Bag 5102, Parramatta NSW 2124.

The application and legitimate reason forms are interactive. You must complete both forms, then email all required documentation to clubs@police.nsw.gov.au or mail to the Firearms Registry, Locked Bag 5102, Parramatta NSW 2124.
