A permit may be issued authorising the possession and use of a prohibited weapon in circumstances where it can be proven that a genuine reason exists - see section 8(2) of the Weapons Prohibition Act 1998 and clause 15 of the Weapons Prohibition Regulation 2017.

If you are applying for a Permit to possess and use prohibited weapons in circumstances other than those listed, you will need to complete a P638 'Application for a Prohibited Weapon Permit' form and choose "Other" in Section A 'Permit Type' on the form.

You will be required to provide information on the genuine reason form and other evidence as requested to support your application.

Application

The application and genuine reason forms are interactive. You must complete both forms, then print and return both forms with any requested documentation to the Firearms Registry, Locked Bag 5102, Parramatta NSW 2124.

Business Declaration

If this application is for a business, please complete the Business Declaration and return this with your application.
