A search will resume this morning for a teen missing while swimming in the Shoalhaven River yesterday.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Friday 31 December 2021), two teenage boys – aged 15 and 16 – went for a swim in the Shoalhaven River at Burrier, when one of the teens got into difficulty.

The pair attempted to get back to shore, before the one of the boys – aged 15 – disappeared under the water.

Emergency services were alerted before members of the public began to search for the missing boy using personal vessels and the Toll Rescue helicopter, along with officers attached to South Coast Police District.

Police Divers arrived at the scene about 10.50pm (Friday 31 December 2021) to take over the operation, which continued until it was suspended at 1.30am (Saturday 1 January 2022).

The search is due to resume this morning (Saturday 1 January 2022) and will involve similar resources.
