A search has resumed this morning for a man missing while swimming in a dam at Bathurst yesterday.

About 1.30pm (Saturday 25 December 2021), a group of people were on a boat on the dam when a man told his friends he was going to swim to shore, a distance of about 300m.

A storm struck the area a short time later and the man’s friends saw him disappear under the water.

Emergency services were alerted and a search to locate the missing man commenced, involving officers from Chifley Police District, local Police Rescue, and multiple SES craft.

The operation continued until it was suspended at 7pm due to poor light.

The search resumed this morning (Sunday 26 December 2021), and will involve similar resources, assisted by Police divers.
