A fourth person has been charged as part of ongoing investigations into the fatal stabbing of a man in Sydney’s west this week.

About 7.30pm (Wednesday 22 December 2021), emergency services were called to a reserve at Catlin Close, Whalan, following reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located three men – aged 40, 25 and 19 – suffering stab wounds.

The 40-year-old man died at the scene and the other two men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.

The two younger men remain in hospital in a stable condition.

All three men are known to each other.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic police, and a search of the surrounding area was conducted, with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit.

Detectives attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident under Strike Force Jaceva.

So far during the investigation, three men – one aged 18 and two aged 19 – have been charged over their alleged roles in the incident. They all remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, officers executed search warrants at homes on McCrae Place, Blackett, and Tarawa Street, Lethbridge Park yesterday (Friday 24 December 2021).

About 8.30pm, a 19-year-old man attended Mt Druitt Police Station where he was arrested and charged with affray.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 25 December 2021).

Strike Force Jaceva investigations continue.
