Taxi driver charged following fatal pedestrian crash - Sydney

A taxi driver has been charged following a fatal pedestrian crash in Sydney last month.
Just before 12.30pm on Sunday 28 November 2021, emergency services were called to the intersection of Goulburn and Sussex Streets, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a taxi.
The pedestrian – a 68-year-old woman – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where she later died.
The taxi driver – a 66-year-old man – was uninjured and taken for mandatory testing.
Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Following an investigation, the 66-year-old man was issued a court attendance notice (CAN) yesterday (Wednesday 22 December 2021), charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death) and drive vehicle without clear view.
The man is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 9 February 2022.
