A man who allegedly assaulted two others during an amateur boxing match in Sydney’s south-west earlier this year has been charged.

About 2pm on Saturday 27 November 2021, three men allegedly assaulted two others while attending an amateur boxing match held inside an industrial premise at Girraween.

One of the men, aged 18, sustained serious head and facial injuries and was conveyed by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition. He’s since been released.

The other man was not seriously injured.

Subsequent inquiries by officers attached to Raptor Squad revealed the three men allegedly responsible for the assault left the scene shortly after the incident occurred.

Last month, police executed a crime scene warrant at the complex and located and seized a silver spirit level allegedly used to carry out the assault.

A further two search warrants were executed at homes in Merrylands from 7am yesterday (Wednesday 15 December 2021), where police seized several items relevant to the investigation, including clothing allegedly worn during the incident.

Following further inquiries, a 24-year-old man attended Parramatta Police Station about 9am today (Thursday 16 December 2021), where he was charged with three offences, including affray, assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group, and reckless grievous bodily harm - in company.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

Inquiries continue.
