Strike Force Haskett formed to investigate fatal stabbing - Toongabbie

Detectives are waiting to interview a man as they continue inquiries into a fatal stabbing at Toongabbie overnight.

Emergency services were called to Valeria Street, Toongabbie, about 6.30pm yesterday (Friday 7 January 2022), and found a 45-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his abdomen and head.

Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command rendered first aid to the man before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived; however, he died at the scene.

Police arrested a 56-year-old man nearby a short time later. He was taken to Blacktown Hospital under police guard for injuries sustained before his arrest. Detectives hope to speak with the man once he is released.

Strike Force Haskett has been established investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. It comprises detectives from Blacktown PAC, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
