A man has been charged with drink-driving after crashing a minibus into a parked police vehicle in the state’s north overnight.

About 11.40pm (Wednesday 8 September 2021), a man was driving a Mitsubishi minibus north of Wharf Street, Tweed Heads, carrying four passengers, when he crashed into a police vehicle that was parked outside the police station.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District heard the noise and ran outside to find the 52-year-old driver getting out of the bus with his passengers - one man and three women – who all escaped injury.

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for low range PCA and negligent driving.
