A man will appear in court today after a pursuit in Sydney’s north-west on the weekend.

About 12.10am on Saturday (4 September 2021), officer from the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad were patrolling the Cranbrook area when they stopped the driver of a Ford Falcon travelling on Ninth Avenue, Llandilo.

As officers approached the window of the driver – and sole occupant of the vehicle – he allegedly accelerated away from them.

A pursuit was initiated and continued through several streets in the suburb, before being terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, police deployed road spikes at the intersection of Stony Creek Road and Eighth Avenue.

The man allegedly continued driving for a short distance, entering Ropes Crossing where he crashed into two parked cars on Saltbush Court, and a letter box and tree in a front yard on Marshall Avenue.

After coming to a stop, the man allegedly ran from the vehicle and was followed by the crew of PolAir 3 before being located behind a garbage bin in a driveway on Bluebell Crescent.

He was arrested by police with assistance from the Dog Unit and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, two counts of not give particulars to owner of damaged property, and goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not m/v).

He appeared in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday (4 September 2021), where he was formally refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court today (Monday 6 September 2021).

Inquiries continue.
