Police are appealing for assistance to find a woman missing from Tamworth.

Mona Haines, aged 41, was last seen on the Oxley Highway at Carroll, 20 kilometres east of Gunnedah, between 3-4pm on Friday 27 August 2021.

Officers from Oxley Police District were notified by Mona’s family about 2.50pm yesterday (Friday 3 September 2021) and commenced an investigation into her whereabouts.

Police have concerns for Mona’s welfare due to a medical condition. It is also out of character for Mona to be away from her family for this length of time.

Mona is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 160cm tall, thin build, with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

It is not known what she was wearing at the time.

Anyone who has seen Mona, or has information on her whereabouts, is urged to contact Oxley Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report crime via NSW Police social media pages.
