UPDATE: Man charged with sexual touching - Bonnyrigg

A man has been charged with sexual touching after he was identified following an appeal by police.

About 10.45am on Wednesday (1 September 2021), a 43-year-old woman was working at a store at a Bonnyrigg Shopping Centre, when she was approached by a man, claiming to have lost a hearing aid.

Police have been told the woman was sexually touched while assisting the man, who also attempted to kiss her before leaving the store.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were notified yesterday (Friday 3 September 2021), and commenced an investigation.

As part of the inquiries, investigators released an image of a man who may have been able to assist police.

Following assistance from the public an 83-year-old man was arrested by police at a Bossley Park home.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with one count of sexually touch another person without consent.

The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 8 September 2021.
