Man charged over alleged speeding offences - Riverina PD

A man has been charged with several traffic offences after allegedly sharing social media videos of himself speeding in the Riverina region.
On Saturday (21 August 2021), Riverina Highway Patrol officers attached to Strike Force Puma South West Regional commenced an investigation after receiving a compliant about social media videos depicting a vehicle travelling at dangerous speeds along the Olympic Highway throughout August.
A video allegedly depicted a man driving 153km/h in a 100km zone between Yerong Creek and Henty, about 9pm on Friday 6 August; 148km/h in a 100km zone about 9.10pm on Saturday 14 August, and 206km/h in a 100km sign posted area between Uranquinty and The Rock, about 1.50am on Saturday 21 August.
It will be further alleged the man did not have a reasonable excuse to leave his home, breaching the current stay-at-home orders.
Following inquiries, officers attended a home in Henty yesterday (Monday 23 August 2021), and spoke with a 25-year-old man.
He was issued a court attendance notice for drive speed dangerous, exceed speed over 45km/h, exceed speed over 30km/h, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 - COVID-19.
His license was also suspended, and his number plates seized for three months
He is due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 22 September 2021.
