Man charged over public place shooting - Macquarie Fields

A man will appear in court today charged as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged public place shooting in Macquarie Fields last month.
Just before 4.15pm on Sunday 26 September 2021, emergency services were called to a home on Snow Gum Street, following reports of shots fired.
Police have been told three men arrived at the front of the home and became involved in an argument and physical altercation with two male occupants – aged 27 and 30 – before the younger man sustained a gunshot wound to his right hand.
The three men then fled the scene in a vehicle.
The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command, with assistance from specialist police, conducted an extensive search of the area; however, the men were not located.
A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers, and an investigation commenced.
Following inquiries, detectives stopped a black VW Golf in Governs Way, Macquarie Links, just before 9.30am yesterday (Thursday 7 October 2021).
The driver and passenger – two men aged 26 and 29 – were arrested and the vehicle was searched, with police seizing a round of ammunition and clothing.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at a home on Governors Way, where police seized various types of ammunition, a self-loading pistol, extendable batons, mobile phones and clothing items related to the investigation.
The items will undergo further examination.
The men were taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station, where the younger man was charged with possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of acquire firearm – subject to prohibition order, fire firearm manner likely injure persons, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, use class B or C vehicle unauthorised number plate affixed, two counts of possess unauthorised pistol, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit, acquire ammunition subject to prohibition, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
He was refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court today (Friday 8 October 2021).
The passenger was issued with a $1000 PIN for not comply with noticed direction re s7/8/9 – COVID-19.
