Man charged after allegedly slashing tyres of luxury cars - Tamworth

A man has been charged after he allegedly slashed the tyres over 30 cars resulting in more than $40,000 damage in Tamworth last month.
On Monday 27 September 2021, officers from Oxley Police District commenced an investigation after receiving information that 17 vehicles from a caryard in Marius Street had their tyres slashed.
Officers received further information that 15 company cars in Peel Street also sustained similar damage while parked there between Saturday 25 September and Sunday 26 September 2021.
The estimated value of the damage was $41,000.
Just before 3pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 October 2021), officers from the Gunnedah Proactive Crime Team and Tamworth General Duties executed a search warrant at a unit in Bourke Street, Tamworth and arrested a 54-year-old man.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with destroy or damage property more than
$15 000 (x2), enter enclosed lands, and goods in custody.
He was refused bail and will appear in Tamworth Local Court today (Thursday 7 October 2021).
