A man wanted on an outstanding warrant has been charged with affray in the state’s far north yesterday.

About 2.50pm on Tuesday (28 September 2021), officers attached to New England Police District attended a home on Merriwa Street, Boggabilla, as part of ongoing inquiries to locate a wanted man.

On arrival, a 22-year-old man immediately ran from police before jumping numerous fences and entering bushland.

A short time later, officers located the man who refused to comply with police direction and resisted arrest.

He was subsequently taken to Goondiwindi Hospital by Queensland Ambulance for treatment to minor injuries.

While officers were waiting for the arrival of paramedics, a member of the public threw a rock at the police vehicle, smashing the rear window.

Officers attended a home in Boggabilla yesterday (Wednesday 29 September 2021), and issued the man with a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) for the outstanding warrant, affray and fail to comply with notice direction in relation to section 7/8/9 -COVID-19.

He is due to appear a Boggabilla Local Court on Wednesday 6 October 2021.

Inquiries into the damaged police vehicle are continuing.
