Appeal for information following two break and enters - Albury

Police are appealing for information from the public, following two break and enters at homes in the Murray River region yesterday.

About 5pm (Tuesday 28 September 2021), two women aged 19 and 20 were inside a home on Banks Street, North Albury, when they heard a knock.

The 19-year-old opened the door and was confronted by three women who asked to use the bathroom.

Police have been told the trio demanded the resident’s mobile phone and PIN while she was punched and kicked before the group fled.

The 19-year-old woman sustained minor injuries.

Then, about 10.30pm, a 27-year-old man was asleep in his home on Orton Place, North Albury, when he was awoken by a knock.

He opened the door and was confronted by three women who then forced their way into the home and ransacked the premises before fleeing.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District were notified and established crime scenes at both addresses.

The three women were described as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, and between 20-30 years old; the incidents are believed to be linked.
