Two injured during serious crash - Murray River PD

Two people have been injured following a serious crash in the Murray River region last night.

About 9pm (Monday 20 September 2021), a black Holden Acclaim station wagon was travelling north along the Cobb Highway, 10km south of Mathoura, when it left the roadway and hit a tree.

The driver – a 37-year-old man – and his 35-year-old female passenger were trapped in the vehicle for some time before being released by three police officers.

The driver sustained serious leg injuries, while the woman suffered severe injuries.

Both were treated at the scene, before being airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital in serious conditions.

Officers from Murray River Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
