Police investigate suspicious house fire - Cranebrook

Police are investigating a suspicious house fire in Sydney’s west overnight.

About 9pm (Friday 6 August 2021), emergency services were called to Martley Way, Cranebrook, following reports of a house fire.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command and Fire and Rescue NSW attended and found a house well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze, however the house, which is currently not occupied, was completely destroyed.

Neighbouring residents were evacuated, but nobody was injured.

During a search of the house, investigators found two cats and six kittens had died in the fire.

A crime scene has been established, and police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
