Driver under police guard, passenger charged following pursuit with stolen cars - Sydney's west

A man has been charged and a second man remains under police guard in hospital following a pursuit through western Sydney overnight.
About 10.45pm (Thursday 29 April 2021, officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command were conducting proactive patrols when they noticed two white Audi sedans travelling on Elata Way, near Chestnut Crescent, Bidwill.
Police attempted to stop the A5 and A3, which drove away at high speed.
When the vehicles failed to stop, police commenced a pursuit.
It was terminated a short time later, however, PolAir monitored the A5 as it travelled through a number of suburbs including Blacktown, Rouse Hill, Baulkham Hills, Bonnyrigg and Bonnyrigg Heights.
On Simpson Road, Bonnyrigg Heights, the two male occupants exited the Audi and entered another stolen vehicle, a grey Volkswagen Golf.
PolAir continued to monitor the Volkswagen.
At the intersection of Cowpasture Road and Elizabeth Drive, the vehicle was stopped in traffic when it allegedly reversed into an unmarked police vehicle.
Police exited their vehicle and arrested the driver, a 23-year-old Shalvey man and his passenger, a 24-year-old South Penrith man.
Shortly after, officers searched the vehicle which was allegedly stolen from a home at Ropes Crossing between 9am on Tuesday (27 April 2021) and 8am on Wednesday (28 April 2021).
During the search, police located and seized a knife and a machete.
The men were taken to Fairfield Police Station where the passenger was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and resist officer in execution of duty.
He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Friday 30 April 2021).
The driver was later taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment of facial injuries sustained in the crash. He remains under police guard.
