Attempted murder charges laid after pedestrians deliberately hit - Broken Hill

A man will appear in court today charged after allegedly deliberately driving at and hitting two pedestrians in the state’s Far West last month.
About 8.45pm on Tuesday 30 March 2021, emergency services responded to reports two men had been hit by a car while walking along the footpath on Lane Street, Broken Hill.
The men, aged 19 and 49, were treated at the scene before being conveyed to Broken Hill Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The older man was later transferred to Royal Adelaide Hospital where he remains with serious head injuries.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, was arrested at Broken Hill Police Station a short time later, however, he was released pending further investigations.
Following extensive inquiries, police attended a home on Wyman Street, Broken Hill, and arrested the 18-year-old man about 9.15am yesterday (Thursday 29 April 2021).
He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station and charged with two counts of cause grievous bodily harm with intent to murder.
The man was bail refused to appear before Broken Hill Local Court today (Friday 30 April 2021).
