Man charged with assault - Albury

A hotel staff member has been charged after an altercation with a patron in Albury at the weekend.

About 10.45pm on Saturday (24 April 2021), police were called to a licensed premises in Albury following reports a man had been ejected from the premises and was refusing to leave.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and issued a 37-year-old man with a move on direction.

The man allegedly failed to comply and was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was issued an infringement notice for continue intoxicated etc behaviour after move on direction.

Police later observed the man to have a laceration to his forehead. Inquiries revealed the man had allegedly been involved in an earlier altercation with security staff at the premises.

Further inquiries led to the arrest of a 31-year-old staff member who was performing security duties at the hotel.

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice at Albury Police Station today (Monday 26 April 2021), with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He is due to appear in Albury Local Court on Monday 17 May 2021.
