A woman has been charged with high-range PCA after being caught driving with a child in the car on the state’s Mid North coast yesterday.

About 3.45pm (Thursday 27 May 2021), officers attached to the Mid North Coast Highway Patrol responded to reports of a minor two-vehicle crash on the Oxley Highway, Port Macquarie, near the intersection with Lake Road.

Police spoke to the driver of a Renault Clio, a 36-year-old woman, who was travelling with a seven-year-old passenger.

The woman was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.

She was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.293, almost six times the legal limit.

The woman was issued a court attendance notice for drive with high-range PCA and had her driver’s license suspended.

She will appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 14 July 2021.

The child was returned to the care of family members. Family and Community Services have been notified.
