A man will appear in court today after the assault of another man in Sydney’s south-west over the weekend.
About 10.45pm on Saturday (22 May 2021), officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were called following reports a man had been assaulted and hit by a car outside a licensed premises on Maclaurin Avenue, East Hills.
Police will allege two men, aged 30 and 35, were asked to leave the premises due to their aggressive behaviour. The men left in a Nissan X-Trail along Maclaurin Avenue, East Hills.
A short time later, the 30-year-old exited the car’s passenger side and approached a 49-year-old man walking along Maclaurin Avenue. He allegedly kicked the older man, who fell onto the road.
Police will allege the 35-year-old man then drove at the 49-year-old man and struck him with the Nissan.
The older man suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his back, leg and thighs. The men in their 30s then allegedly fled the scene in the car.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested the 35-year-old man at a home on Furlong Drive, Currans Hill, about 11.15am yesterday (Sunday 23 May 2021).
He was taken to Narellan Police Station, where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.
He was refused bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court today (Monday 24 May 2021).
