Two arrested after Camperdown man allegedly robbed at knifepoint

One man has been charged while a second remains under police guard in hospital following a robbery at Camperdown overnight.

Police have been told two men allegedly threatened the resident of a home unit in Pyrmont Bridge Road with a knife about 7.50pm yesterday (Thursday 20 May 2021), taking cash and his mobile.

An electronic stun device was also allegedly used on the 21-year-old man before building security were alerted and intervened.

The two men jumped from the first-floor balcony; however, were detained by security and the resident’s family.

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command were alerted and took the men, both aged 24, into custody.

One man, from Ashbury, has been taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for a shoulder injury.

The second man has now been charged with four offences

• Aggravated enter dwelling with intent – use corporal violence

• Aggravated enter dwelling with intent – armed

• Robbery in company, and

• Enter enclosed land without lawful excuse.

The Greenacre man has been refused bail to appear in Newtown Local Court today (Friday 21 May 2021).

Officers are waiting for the second man to be released from hospital.
