Man charged over multiple pursuits - Parramatta

A man will face court today charged with 17 offences following a pursuit in Sydney’s west.
About 8pm yesterday (Wednesday 19 May 2021), officers from Blacktown Police Area Command responded to reports of alleged break and enter at a premise on Lily Place, Lalor Park.
Upon arrival, police approached a Holden Commodore that was at the location, before the vehicle allegedly drove at the officers, causing them to take evasive action to avoid being struck.
Officers from North Western Metropolitan Highway Patrol located the vehicle attempted to stop it on Christine Crescent. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.
At the intersection of Heffron Road and Northcott Road, the vehicle and a taxi collided. The vehicle did not stop and continued travelling south along Parkside Drive.
The pursuit was terminated due to the manner of driving.
A short time later, the vehicle was located abandoned on O’Connell Street, Parramatta. A perimeter was established, and the driver was located and arrested nearby.
Checks revealed the man was disqualified from holding a driver’s licence until 2025 and was wanted on two outstanding warrants.
The 27-year-old man from Warners Bay was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with;
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly (x4)
- Drive recklessly/furious or speed/manner dangerous (x3)
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (x2)
- Use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention (x2)
- Not give particulars to other driver
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (x2)
- Use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed
Police will allege the man was involved in a pursuit with officers from Blacktown Police Area Command in Cameron Park on Friday 26 February 2021 and with Highway Patrol officers in Windale on Friday 12 March 2021.
He was bail refused to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 20 May 2021).
