Disqualified driver charged - Revesby

A man will face court today, charged after he was caught driving whilst disqualified in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.

About 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 18 May 2021), a 20-year-old man attended Revesby Police Station to inquire about an unrelated matter.

Officers from Bankstown Traffic and Highway Patrol recognised the man as being a disqualified driver, and when the he left the station, observed him get into a Honda Civic and drive along The River Road, Revesby and then onto Isabella Street.

Police followed the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle failed to stop and continued onto Montgomery Avenue, where they observed the Honda allegedly travel through a red light.

A pursuit was initiated and terminated a short time later due to the manner of driving. Police lost sight of the vehicle.

A short time later the vehicle was located sitting in traffic on Queen Street, Revesby, and the man was arrested.

The Chester Hill man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed – second offence, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous – second offence, class A motor vehicle exceed speed > 45 km/h – estimated, not stop at stop line at red arrow (motor vehicle), not stop at stop line at red light (not toll booth) – motor vehicle and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period – second offence.

He appeared at Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday 19 May 2021), and was bail refused to reappear at the same court on Friday 21 May 2021.
