Teens charged over Eastern Suburbs vehicle thefts

Two teenagers have been charged as investigations continue into the theft of vehicles from Sydney’s east.
Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation following the theft of luxury vehicles from homes in Sydney’s east between March and May 2021.
* a Jeep Cherokee was stolen from a Woollahra home on Saturday 13 March 2021, and late recovered in Greenacre.
* a Tesla was stolen from a Dover Heights home on Friday 7 May 2021, and later recovered in Bankstown
* a Land Rover was stolen from a Watsons Bay home on Tuesday (15 May 2021), and a number of frauds were committed with credit cards left in the vehicle.
Following inquiries, officers from Eastern Suburbs Proactive Crime Team (PCT) attended Bankstown Police Station yesterday (Friday 14 May 2021), and arrested two boys, aged 16.
As part of inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a unit block on Stacey Street, Bankstown where a Mercedes C200 was recovered and the Land Rover was recovered at North Strathfield.
One teen was charged with five counts of take & drive conveyance without consent of owner, larceny, two counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.
The other was charged with two counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
They were both granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Thursday 27 May 2021
