A man has been charged after he allegedly crashed a vehicle that he was taking on a test drive in Sydney’s south west today.

Just before 10am (Monday 15 March 2021), emergency services were called to the intersection of Graham Avenue and Fraser Avenue, Lurnea, following reports two vehicles had collided.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command arrived to find a Chery hatchback on it’s roof and an abandoned Toyota Celica.

The Chery passenger – a 56-year-old man – was trapped for a short time before being freed. He was treated at the scene for suspected neck and back injuries before being transferred to Liverpool Hospital.

The driver of the Chery – a 43-year-old woman – was uninjured.

The driver of the Toyota Celica left the scene prior to police arrival.

Subsequent inquiries with the owner of the Toyota revealed it was out on a test drive with a prospective buyer.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Gibson Avenue, Casula, where they arrested a 42-year-old man.

He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing, before being taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with negligent driving, not give way to vehicle (give way sign/line), not give particulars to other driver and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

The man was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 16 March 2021).
