Police investigate shooting - Earlwood

An investigation is underway after a man was shot in the backyard of a home in Sydney’s south west yesterday.

About 11.35pm (Saturday 13 March 2021), officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command responded to reports of a shooting in Barnes Avenue, Earlwood.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his stomach and leg.

The 53-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital in a stable condition, where he is expected to undergo surgery.

Police have been told the man was in his backyard at the time when the shooting occurred.

A crime scene has been established, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

Detectives have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV or information are urged to contact police.
