A man and three teenage boys have been charged following an incident at a bottle shop in Nowra at the weekend.

About 9.45pm on Saturday 6 March 2021, four males, aged between 16 and 18, entered a bottle shop on Kinghorne Street, Nowra.

It’s alleged the group stole alcohol and were involved in a verbal altercation with a male employee, before leaving the store on foot.

About 10.30pm, the attendant saw the same group approaching the side entrance of the building and attempted to lock the door.

It’s alleged the group, armed with knives and a machete, attempted to force the door open and made numerous threats towards the employee, before walking away and damaging a nearby parked car.

Police were called and officers from South Coast Police District attended a short time later.

Following inquiries, three teenage boys – aged 16 and two aged 17 – and an 18-year-old man were arrested nearby and taken to Nowra Police Station.

All four were charged with malicious damage in company, intimidation, and use offensive weapon in company to commit indictable offence.

The 16-year-old was also charged with larceny and malicious damage. He was refused bail and appeared in a children’s court yesterday, where he was granted bail to appear in a children’s court on Tuesday 6 April 2021.

One of the 17-year-old boys was also charged with wield knife in public place. Both 17-year-olds were granted strict conditional bail to appear in a children’s court on Thursday 22 April 2021.

The 18-year-old man was granted strict conditional bail to appear in Nowra Local Court on Monday 22 March 2021.
