An officer has been charged with allegedly indecently and sexually touching a child.

Earlier this month, officers from the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation following reports a girl was sexually touched by a male relative who is a police officer.

Following inquiries, a 42-year-old male sergeant – who is attached to a command in the North West Metropolitan Region – attended Riverstone Police Station yesterday (Wednesday 21 April 2021), and was issued a Court Attendance Notice for five offences.

The charges include two counts of indecent assault person under 16 years of age, and three counts of intentionally sexually touch child between 10 and 16 years.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Monday 7 June 2021.

The officer is now suspended from duty with pay.
