A police officer has been charged for allegedly perverting the course of justice.
In July last year, an investigation was commenced following a complaint about an off-duty police officer allegedly supplying false information to a court in 2019.
The court matter was unrelated to his policing duties.
Earlier today (Tuesday 20 March 2021), the 53-year-old male Sergeant, who is attached to the Central Metropolitan Region, was served a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) for two counts of perverting the course of justice.
He is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 21 May 2021.
His employment status is currently under review.
