Critical incident investigation underway after man's death - Broken Hill

A critical incident investigation has been launched following the death of a man in the state’s far west today.
Shortly before 8am today (Thursday 18 March 2021), officers attached to Barrier Police District attended an address on Silver Street, Broken Hill, in relation to an outstanding warrant.
It is alleged the 37-year-old man ran from police. A short time later patrolling officers were alerted to a male suffering a medical episode nearby.
Police commenced CPR on the man before he was taken to Broken Hill Hospital and declared deceased.
A critical incident team from Central North Police District will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation will be subject to an independent review.
All information will be provided to the Coroner who will determine the cause of death and make any findings about the events leading to the man’s death.
