Man charged after pursuit - Ashcroft

A man will face cout today charged in relation to a pursuit in Sydeny’s south west.

About 6.40pm yesterday (Saturday 29 November 2025), officers from Liverpool City Highway Patrol attempted to stop the driver of a Toyota Corolla on Maxwells Avenue, Ashcroft.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later the driver of the Corolla crashed into a Toyota Camry.

The Corolla has then collided into a power pole, bringing down powerlines.

Police allege the driver – a 32-year-old man – allegedly ran from the scene before being arrested at the intersection of Marum and Devlin Street following a foot pursuit.

It will be alleged he attempted to physical resist officers during the arrest before he was taken to Liverpool Police Station.

Police will further allege that a quantity of drugs and a counterfeit $50 note was located inside the vehicle.

Inquiries established that the man was the holder of a provisional licence that allegedly expired in 2015.

A rear seat passenger – a 46-year-old man – sustained a laceration to his face and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.

The front seat passenger – a 31-year-old woman was not injured.

The passengers were not arrested.

No occupants from the Camry were seriously injured.

The 32-year-old man was charged with:

• Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously

• Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous

• Never licensed person drive vehicle on road - prior offence

• Fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury

• Not give particulars to other driver

• Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty

• Possess counterfeit money (not excepted counterfeit coin)

• Possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance

The Colebee man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 6 today (Sunday 30 November 2025).
