Man charged following pursuit - Bellambi

A man has been charged following a pursuit on the state’s south coast.
About 1.55pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 November 2025), officers attached to Southern Operations Support Group attempted to stop a vehicle on Lismore Street, Bellambi.
When the black hatchback allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated and continued onto the M1 Motorway at Albion Park, where the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, the vehicle broke down and a 38-year-old man was arrested near Tongarra Road, Albion Park.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station before he was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for assessment.
Following release from hospital, he was returned to Lake Illawarrra Police Station and charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 3 today (Thursday 27 November 2025).
