Liverpool City detectives are appealing for public assistance to locate five people involved in an attempted armed home invasion in Sydney’s southwest last month.

About 12.50am on Tuesday 9 September 2025, police were called to a home in Moorebank following reports of a home invasion.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command arrived and were told a group of masked men armed with firearms, a machete and pickaxe had attempted to force entry into the home; however, ran from the scene after being unable to enter.

The residents of the home – including two children aged 13 and ten – were uninjured.

Police established a crime scene seizing a duffle bag left at the scene and Liverpool City detectives commenced Strike Force Rockmay to investigate the incident.

Following initial investigations, strike force detectives believe the masked men arrived and left in a white BMW SUV, which has been recovered.

As investigations continue, strike force detectives are hoping to speak to five people who were seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Four men were last seen wearing track pants, hooded jumpers and face coverings. A fifth person is believed to have driven the vehicle of interest.

Detectives are urging anyone with information about these people or the incident to contact Liverpool Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au Information is managed on a confidential basis. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
