Teenager charged following alleged dangerous behaviour on jet ski- Brighton Le Sands

A teenage boy has been charged after allegedly riding a jet ski in a dangerous manner over the weekend.

About 12.30pm on Sunday (19 October 2025), police were called to Brighton Le Sands Beach, following reports a jet ski was seen riding in a dangerous manner near swimmers.

Officers attached to Marine Area Command attended and allegedly observed the rider driving dangerously around swimmers and vessels.

Police attempted to stop the driver, who allegedly failed to stop as directed.

The rider – a 17-year-old boy – was arrested at Kyeemagh about 4pm and the jet ski was seized. He was released pending further inquiries.

Following inquiries, the boy was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for eight offences:

  • operate recreational vessel recklessly no death
  • refuse/not comply with requirements of investigative powers
  • operate as master PWC without licence
  • fail to notify change in vessels ownership
  • operate personal watercraft irregularly in restriction zone
  • not have PWC behaviour label affixed as prescribed
  • personal watercraft travel at 10 knots or more within 60 metres of person or non-powered vessel
  • use registered Class A motor vehicle & unregistered trailer

He is due to face Children’s Court on Wednesday 3 December 2025.
