Five teenagers have had their charges upgraded to murder, following an alleged fatal stabbing south of Wollongong earlier this year.
Emergency services were called to Saturn Crescent, Dunmore, about 3pm on Tuesday 28 January 2025, after a 25-year-old man was found suffering serious stab wounds.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, could not be revived.
Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District established Strike Force Feods and commenced an investigation into the incident with the assistance of State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
Initial investigations revealed the man had allegedly been stabbed during a fight involving a number of people who left in an SUV.
The vehicle was later recovered in Albion Park Rail and seized for forensic examination.
Police charged a 15-year-old boy and a 38-year-old woman with murder; they remain before the court. Six teenagers, aged between 12 and 15, were also charged in relation to the incident.
Yesterday, detectives attached to Lake Illawarra Police District charged five of those six teenagers – a 13-year-old boy, two boys aged 14, a 15-year-old girl, and 16-year-old boy – with murder.
Two of those boys, aged 14 and 16, were also charged with affray.
The oldest boy will appear in a children’s court on Tuesday 21 October 2025.
The remaining five teenagers will appear in a children’s court on Tuesday 28 October 2025.
The woman will appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 15 October 2025).
The teen originally charged with murder also remains before the courts and is next due to appear in a children’s court on Tuesday 28 October 2025.
