Man charged over hit-and-run - Villawood

A man has been charged over an alleged fail to stop crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured in Sydney’s south west.
About 7.25am on Monday 14 July 2025, emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian hit by a car at the intersection of Woodville Road and Kirrang Avenue, Villawood.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 29-year-old woman at the scene before she was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers from Fairfield Police Area Command established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Police were informed that the woman was allegedly on a pedestrian crossing facing a green walk signal when she was struck by a blue Hyundai hatch back that had proceeded through a red traffic control signal.
The driver allegedly failed to stop, and the vehicle was last seen driving south along Woodville Road.
Shortly after 1am on Wednesday 16 July 2025 the vehicle was located burnt out in an alleyway off Biloela Road, Villawood.
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.15am today (Tuesday 23 September 2025), officers from the Crash Investigation Unit arrested a 34-year-old man at a home on Weir Crescent, Lurnea, where he was taken to Liverpool Police Station.
It will be alleged the man was the driver at the time of the crash.
Police will further allege that the man’s drivers’ licence had been suspended since June 2025.
The Lurnea man was charged with:
- Fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm
- Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous
- Proceed through red traffic light (not toll booth)
- Drive motor vehicle while licence suspended
He has been refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 23 September 2025).
The 29-year-old woman remains at Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Investigations are continuing.
