Officer charged over alleged assault - Central Metropolitan Region

A police officer has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault at Miranda earlier this year.

On Sunday 2 February 2025, officers from Sutherland Police Area Command attended a licensed premises on the Kingsway, Miranda, after reports of an assault.

Police spoke to an 18-year-old woman whose clothing was allegedly touched by a woman, not known to her.

Inquiries revealed the woman was allegedly assaulted by an off-duty police officer.

Following an investigation, a 42-year-old woman – a detective senior constable attached to a specialist command – was issued a court attendance notice today (Monday 25 August 2025), for common assault.

She is due to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 2 October 2025.

The officer is being managed in the workplace.
