Driver charged after pedestrian seriously injured - Mount Druitt

A man has been charged after a pedestrian was hit Sydney’s west earlier this month.
About 6pm on Thursday 7 August 2025, emergency services were called to Kurrajong Avenue, Mount Druitt, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a sedan.
Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command attended and were told the vehicle was allegedly performing burnouts before it struck a man.
The pedestrian – a 29-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before he was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, where he remains.
The driver of the car – a 32-year-old man – was uninjured.
He was arrested and taken to Mount Druitt Hospital for mandatory testing, and later Mount Druitt Police Station before he was released without charge.
Police established a crime scene and officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Following inquiries, the 32-year-old man was arrested about 7.40pm yesterday (Friday 23 August 2025) and taken to St Marys Police Station, where he was charged with:
- Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm
- Drive furiously in motor vehicle cause bodily harm
- Negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm)
- Sustain loss of traction
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Penrith Local Court on Thursday 9 October 2025.
