Sex Crimes Squad charge man with alleged child abuse material - Wollongong

Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a Wollongong man for alleged child abuse offences under Strike Force Glandore.

Strike Force Glandore was established by State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad Child Internet Exploitation Unit (CIEU) to investigate the online distribution, supply and access of child abuse material.

As part of investigations, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Kanahooka about 8.30am on Tuesday (5 August 2025).

During the search, electronic devices allegedly containing child abuse material were seized for forensic examination. The man’s firearm licence was suspended and registered firearms seized.

The occupant, a 35-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged for use carriage etc to access child abuse material.

He appeared at a bail division court on Wednesday 6 August 2025, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday 1 October 2025.
