Appeal for information to locate man in bushland near Berowra

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man believed lost in bushland near Hornsby.

About 4.30am this morning (Tuesday 12 August 2025), officers from Kuring Gai Police Area Command were called to the Mount Kuring Gai track on Cowan Parade, Berowra, to check on the welfare of a man who called 000.

When police went to speak with the man – believed to be 46-year-old Adam Bowhay from Booker Bay – the man retreated into bushland.

When police followed the man into bushland, the man went further into bushland.

Despite a search of bushland today involving local police and specialist units including Polair, Dog Squad, officers from the Operational Support Group and PORS, the man was unable to be located.

Police hold concerns for Adam’s welfare.

Adam is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, with a thin build and short grey/brown hair.


A search of bushland will resume tomorrow at 7.30am (Wednesday 13 August 2025).
