A teen will face court today charged with allegedly stealing a car and fleeing from police across Sydney’s west before hitting another car and crashing into a medical centre overnight.
About 11.35pm (Friday 8 August 2025), police attempted to stop a BMW SUV – after it was allegedly reported stolen from a Cambridge Park hotel earlier that night – on the Northern Road, Cranebrook.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, police initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns, however, police continued to monitor the vehicle.
About 12.15am today (Saturday 9 August 2025), the BMW collided with a Mitsubishi SUV on the Great Western Highway near Sydney Street, St Marys, before it crashed into a nearby medical centre.
The alleged driver of the BMW – a 16-year-old boy – was arrested by Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command – with assistance from Dog Unit officers – after he attempted to hide in the medical centre.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital under police guard for further treatment.
The driver of the SUV – a 39-year-old woman – was also treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, did not attend hospital.
Police established a crime scene and officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command’s Strike Force Puma commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, the teen was taken to St Marys Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit not stop drive dangerously, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and never licenced person drive vehicle on road.
He was refused bail to appear before children’s court today.
