Teens charged over alleged driving and property offences - Central Coast

Two teenage boys will appear before a children's court today charged over 27 combined alleged driving and property offences.

About 3am on Sunday 18 August 2024, police were called to a shopping centre at Erina following reports of a break and enter.

At the scene, police were told that several teenagers allegedly arrived at the centre in a stolen SUV before smashing the windscreen of a parked car and stealing from a number of businesses within the centre.

The group then allegedly travelled to a shopping centre at Bateau Bay where several kiosks and food outlets were allegedly ransacked.

Early yesterday morning (Thursday 22 August 2023), a number of similar offences allegedly occurred at the same two shopping centres.

Following extensive inquiries police executed two search warrants at homes in Bateau Bay and Killarney Vale yesterday afternoon (Thursday 22 August 2024).

A 15-year-old boy was arrested at the Bateau Bay home and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with 15 offences:

  • Seven counts of enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence,
  • Three counts of destroy or damage property,
  • Two counts of drive conveyance taken without consent of owner,
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner,
  • Aggravated break and enter with intent, and
  • Breach of bail.

At the Killarney Vale home, a second 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with 12 offences:

  • Seven counts of enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence,
  • Three counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and
  • Two counts of aggravated break and enter with intent.

Both boys were refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Friday 23 August 2024).

Inquiries into the incidents are ongoing by Tuggerah Lakes Police District.
