Woman charged after police seize over $50,000 worth of stolen jewellery - Glen Innes

A woman will face court today charged following an investigation into a robbery in the state’s Northern Tablelands at the weekend.
Between 10.30pm on Saturday (17 August 2024) and 1.45am on Sunday (18 August 2024), a woman forced entry into a business on Grey Street, Glen Innes, and allegedly stole a large amount of jewellery.
Officers attached to New England Police District received reports of the break-in and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, about 3.30pm yesterday (20 August 2024), police stopped a woman riding a bicycle with an attached trailer on Grey Street, Glenn Innes, following reports that a bicycle was allegedly stolen from a caravan park in Glen Innes earlier this month.
Police searched the woman and her backpack when they located cannabis, a bag containing white substance, several bank cards, and multiple pieces of jewellery – with an estimated value of over $58,000.
The 44-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Glenn Innes Police Station where she was charged with;
- Break and enter house steal value under $60,000
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (two counts)
- Possess prohibited drug (two counts), and
- Deal with property proceeds of crime over $10,000.
She was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court today (Wednesday 21 August 2024).
