Man charged following discovery of drugs and cash on the South Coast - Strike Force Amalfi

A man has been charged for the alleged ongoing supply of drugs on the South Coast.

In March 2024, Strike Force Amalfi was launched to investigate the ongoing supply of prohibited and restricted drugs.

About 7.15 am yesterday (Wednesday 24 April 2024), officers attached to the Illawarra Region Enforcement Squad, with the assistance of officers from the Lake Illawarra Police District executed a search warrant on a premises in Ocean street, Kiama.

Police seized anabolic steroids, nearly $70,000 in cash and jewellery alleged to be the proceeds of crime. 300 vials of an unknown substance and electronic devices were also seized for examination.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He was charged six counts of possess prescribed restricted substance, three counts of supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis and two counts of knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local court today (Thursday 25 April 2024).
